My sons and I are very happy that we dealt with you when W passed away. You are a good person to deal with and you looked after us well in the days (and month) after W died. You were very patient and understanding regarding the payment you were owed and we appreciate that very much as I was pretty stressed out about it as you know. W only ever wanted a very basic cremation and no fuss, so he would have been happy with your service. I love your “therapy dogs”. W always said dogs can tell when you are upset and they try to give you comfort.

Residing beyond Nelson, and my wife Annie with a terminal illness and wanting a Nelson funeral, my search for a Funeral Director began online.
The Simple Direct Funerals’ website immediately displays its’ differences to the traditional Funeral Homes. My online search was successful. I had found Owen, a man on a mission.
His open, refreshingly honest approach in all that he writes about himself and the funeral business along with his informal, natural style is exactly what eventuated when the time came.
Owen travelled to Westport where he simply, seamlessly joined me, giving me the space to remain totally involved. Our small gathering of family and friends at the Wakapuaka Chapel was a very informal farewell. It was deeply personal, and a totally engaging experience, yet completely dependent upon Owen’s presence and support delivered almost invisibly.
