Traditional Funerals

Coffin in Church

Full Funeral Service

Do you want a traditional funeral service?

By a traditional funeral, we mean a service held at a church or public hall, featuring a more formal structure, led by a minister or celebrant.

The key difference is that we still keep things simple and easy to manage, operating much more behind the scenes.

Additionally, the costs can be less than half the price compared to other providers.

We handle all the necessary arrangements just like we do with our standard funerals.

We will ensure the transportation of the coffin to the location and to either the graveside or the crematorium afterwards.

This is not the same as the private committal service we provide.

We have a selection of coffins available in addition to our standard SDF coffin that families may prefer.

How We Conduct These Funerals

Experience

With years of experience in conducting funeral services, I am confident in assisting families with their particular needs.

Through years of performing funeral services, one learns to recognize what is truly important and what is not.

Often, it can be the seemingly insignificant matters that consume the majority of time and energy.

The Arrangements

Typically, a funeral celebrant or minister is responsible for the funeral service itself, and we ensure that the coffin arrives and departs as required.

Every family and their needs are unique, and we have the flexibility to meet those needs.

Additionally, we will be completely honest about what we can provide for families.

For example – we do not offer embalming.

Savings on Funeral Home Expenses

Traditional funerals organized through a funeral home may start at $6,000 but can quickly escalate. The average costs are closer to $10,000.

SDF has always sought ways to keep costs lower and fixed. With this in mind, our price will reflect these significant savings.

The Funeral Service Checklist

A traditional funeral typically involves:

  1. Coffin
  2. Flowers
  3. Service Sheet
  4. Location (chapel, church, hall)
  5. Minister / Celebrant
  6. Music / Readings / Speakers
  7. Refreshments – perhaps
  8. PowerPoint Photos / Recording Service

These are the primary components of a traditional funeral. The degree to which one wishes to elaborate on each aspect is a personal choice.
